A Place 2 Go was born out of a pressing and deeply personal realization—a lack of supportive housing and resources for formerly incarcerated women aged 55 and older. This vision came to life during my own time in prison, where I had countless heartfelt conversations with women who had spent over 20 years incarcerated.
Through their stories, I learned about the unique struggles they faced: a world that had changed drastically, family support that had dwindled, and reentry programs that often overlooked their needs in favor of younger populations. These women had served their time and longed to rebuild their lives, but they faced barriers at every turn—housing instability, age discrimination, and a lack of tailored resources for women navigating reentry at this stage of life.
Picture this: a woman walking out of prison after decades behind bars, stepping into freedom but finding herself lost in an unfamiliar world. With no place to call home, no network of support, and no resources designed for her, the hope she carried quickly turns to despair. These are the women A Place 2 Go serves.
We provide more than just housing; we create a safe, supportive environment where participants can regain their footing and rebuild their lives with dignity. Here, they are seen, valued, and empowered to take the next steps in their journey. From stable housing to life skills programs, we give these women the tools they need to heal and thrive.
A Place 2 Go isn’t just about offering a roof over someone’s head—it’s about restoring hope, fostering resilience, and proving that no one is too old for a fresh start. We believe in second chances and creating a world where every woman, no matter her age or past, can rewrite her story.
